Bomb threat at Mysuru railway station prompts thorough search operation, leading to hoax declaration and no delays in train schedules.
A bomb threat call caused a panic at City Railway station on Sunday, sending the railways and security officials into a tizzy before it was declared a hoax.
According to sources in the Southern Railways in Mysuru, a phone call was received at the office of the Superintendent of Mysuru district police about a bomb on the railway station premises.
Soon, an anti-bomb squad was rushed to the station while the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) were alerted to carry out the anti-sabotage checks along with city police.
The dog squad along with security personnel from RPF and GRP checked all the locations including the station premises, railway yard, and three trains, including the Vande Bharat. The railway platforms were evacuated and the passengers brought out of the station to facilitate a comprehensive search operation of the premises.
“All security measures including comprehensive frisking, baggage scanning, and inspection of passengers and luggage carried out,” said an RPF official.
No suspicious articles or objects that could pose any threat or cause harm were found and the Anti Sabotage checking team provided a certificate confirming that no suspicious article was found during the inspection.
The call was received at 11.40 a.m. and by 12.45 p.m., it was declared as hoax, a railway official said, adding that all the trains departed from the station without any delay.
