Hindu Munnani cadres enter girls' school in Puducherry amid exams, demand it to be closed | Video

Hindu Munnanni members entered a girls' school in Puducherry when students were writing their quarterly exams on Tuesday and asked the management to close the school. However, police intervened and dispersed the Hindu Munnani members.

Hindu Munnani cadres barged into a girls' higher secondary school in Puducherry and demanded the management close the premises even as students were writing their quarterly exams.

Five pro-Hindu organisations, led by Hindu Munnani, had called for a bandh in the Union Territory of Puducherry on Tuesday. This led to shops being shut down and several private schools declaring a holiday on September 27.

However, the Immaculate Girls Higher Secondary School at Uppallam, where 600 girls study, couldn’t declare a holiday since the quarterly exams were underway.

Hindu Munnani cadres, upon seeing students going to the school, barged in and demanded the management close the school. When parents of the students studying at the institution heard about it, they gathered in large numbers.

Cadres of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam also gathered at the school, leading to a heated argument. Finally, Puducherry Police had to intervene and resolve the issue.

Police officials dispersed the Hindu Munnani cadres and exams were conducted as scheduled.
