The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered a stay on the implementation of domicile reservation in private jobs in Haryana.
Earlier, the state government had ordered that 75 per cent of private jobs in the state be reserved for Haryana citizens. The Haryana Industries Association and others had moved the high court against the same.
In its petition, Gurgaon Industrial Association said the act was against the provisions of the Constitution and the basic principle of meritocracy.
The Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Act, 2020, came into effect on January 15, 2022. The act applied to jobs offering a maximum gross monthly salary or wages of Rs 30,000.
It covered private companies, societies, trusts and partnership firms in Haryana, as per a notification issued by the state government.
