The HSR Layout police have booked the wife and daughter under Section 103 of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for the murder of former Karnataka police chief Om Prakash in Bengaluru on April 20. Preliminary investigations suggest that Om Prakash got into an argument with Pallavi during lunch at their home in HSR Layout. The argument escalated, and resulted in his murder. A kitchen knife was used to stab him multiple times, and a glass bottle was broken on him.
The mother and daughter have been booked for murder in the FIR registered by the HSR Layout police based on a complaint lodged by Om Prakash’s son Karthikesh, 38. Karthikesh lives separately in the same four-storey building. He was away on work when the incident took place. In his complaint, Karthikesh alleged that both his mother and sister suffer from depression and would quarrel with his father every day. He suspects that both may have killed his father.
The Baiyappanahalli Police are on the lookout for a bike rider who assaulted an IAF pilot in C.V. Raman Nagar on April 18, 2025 morning, over an alleged incident of road rage. The victim, Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose, sustained multiple injuries after being attacked with a bike key and a stone. He was on his way to the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) to fly to Kolkata.
Though Mr. Bose left the city without filing a police complaint, his wife and Squadron Leader Madhumita, posted with DRDO in Bengaluru, who was with him at the time of the incident, filed the complaint on his behalf later. Wg. Cdr. Bose recorded a video on his mobile from the airport detailing the assault and making an emotional appeal for action against the miscreant.
Shivamogga police have registered a case following a complaint by a student who alleged that he was told to remove his ‘janivara’ before entering the CET examination hall in Sagar on April 16. The student informed his parents only after reading about incidents related to the ‘sacred thread’ in Shivamogga and other places in the media.
According to his complaint, registered on April 19, during the physical examination of candidates, the staff told him to remove his ‘sacred thread’. He obeyed the order and entered the examination hall at the government pre-university college in Sagar town. When he came out of the hall, he noticed that the ‘sacred thread’ had been thrown into the dustbin.
Villagers of Mugat Khan Hubli near Kittur in Belagavi district held a peace committee meeting after unidentified persons defaced a portrait of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on April 21. Elders decided not to take the law in their hands, and to file a police complaint.
