Hema Malini spoke about the rumours of a rift with Sunny and Bobby Deol, insisting that the family remains united under the values Dharmendra instilled in them. She also opened up about skipping Border 2's screening.
Actor and politician Hema Malini recently addressed speculation about a rift within her family. The 77-year-old dismissed reports suggesting that she does not get along with the Deol sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, and their mother, Prakash Kaur.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Malini emphasised that her late husband, actor Dharmendra, had passed on strong values to all their children and that the family remains united.
"Papa hai na, papa ke liye sab karenge. (Papa is there, and everyone will do anything for Papa.) Be it these bachchas (Esha, Ahana) or those bachchas (Sunny, Bobby) they were all very fond of Dharam ji. They are very fond of each other. There is no negativity at all between the family. When Dharamji is there, where is the negativity? Dharam ji was a source of love, strength and values that he had passed on to them," she said.
Malini also clarified why she could not attend the special screening of Sunny's Border 2, even though her daughters, Esha and Ahana, were present to support the actor. The actor said, "I was invited too, but I could not make it. They were very keen that I come and watch the movie."
She added that the family does not believe in public displays of affection. "We don't display all these moments in public, and why should we? It's all within our family, and why should we expose it? People should understand instead of talking about this and that. We are all okay, and we will cope with this void," she said.
Malini went on to speak about coping with her personal grief following Dharmendra's death. She said she is open to returning to films if offered a suitable role. "If any good film role comes my way, I will do it, kuch achcha aata hi nahi. (Nothing good really comes my way). I am not sure about OTT," she said about returning to the cinema.
