Strict enforcement of helmet rule for both rider and pillion rider on two-wheelers, with driving licences suspended for violators.
The Driving Licences of 19 motorists have been suspended for not wearing helmets while driving two-wheelers during the past few months. The helmet rule for the pillion rider will also be strictly enforced along with the rider of the two-wheeler with immediate effect, according Deputy Transport Commissioner G. Adinarayana.

A decision was taken to strictly enforce the helmet rule for both the rider and the pillion rider of two-wheelers as per the orders of the Supreme Court and the Committee on Road Safety and the government. Fines would be imposed if any of the two, the rider or the pillion rider, fails to wear a helmet.
The driving licence of a person, who rides a two-wheeler without a helmet, would be suspended for three months. If he/she rides a vehicle during the suspension period, They would liable for legal action as in the case of driving without a licence, Mr. Adinarayana said in a statement.
The vehicle owner should not give his vehicle to a person, who does not hold a valid driver’s licence as it was a violation of the Motor Vehicles Act. Special drives would be conducted to check these kind of violations. He appealed to motorists to cooperate with the enforcement authorities in this regard.
