‘Heinous loser’: Pedro Pascal slams JK Rowling’s anti-trans views
Hollywood actor Pedro Pascal has called out famous author J.K. Rowling for her latest trans tweets, calling her a “heinous loser” in a comment on Instagram.
The actor, who was recently seen in the critically acclaimed episode two of The Last of Us season 2, was responding to a post by activist Tariq Ra’ouf, who criticised the author for celebrating the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom’s ruling that trans women should not be recognized as women and that ‘sex’ should legally mean biological sex.
The ‘Harry Potter’ author posted, “I love it when a plan comes together.” She also wrote, “I get the same royalties whether you read [my books] or burn them. Enjoy your marshmallows!”
Commenting on Ra’ouf’s post, Pascal wrote, “Awful disgusting S*** is exactly right. Heinous LOSER behavior.” The post by Ra’ouf also called for a boycott of HBO‘s Harry Potter TV reboot.
The reboot series will adapt all seven Potter novels into separate TV season. The lead director is Mark Mylod, who also helmed Sunday’s episode of The Last of Us.
Actor Pascal has long been a supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community. His sister, Lux Pascal, came out as a trans woman in 2021. Several stars have earlier spoken against Rowling’s anti-trans rhetoric, including Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan and the three key actors from the Harry Potter film series: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson.

A vacuum cleaner haunted by a ghost is the kind of one-liner which can draw in a festival audience looking for a little light-hearted fun to fill the time slots available between the “heavier” films which require much closer attention. A useful ghost, the debut feature of Thai filmmaker Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke being screened in the world cinema category at the 30th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), even appears so in the initial hour. Until, the film becomes something more, with strong undercurrents of Thailand’s contemporary political history.
