Head of snake cut off: US says Iran Revolutionary Guard's headquarters decimated

The United States military on Monday claimed it had completely destroyed the Tehran headquarters of Iran's elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The United States military on Monday announced the total destruction of Iran's elite force, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) headquarters in Tehran, describing the operation as having "cut off the head of the snake".
"The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) killed more than 1,000 Americans over the past 47 years. Yesterday, a large-scale U.S. strike cut off the head of the snake," the US Central Command (Centcom) posted on social media.
The IRGC, an elite branch of Iran’s armed forces established after the 1979 Islamic Revolution to safeguard the country’s Islamic system, had been strengthened under Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and operated directly under his authority.
"America has the most powerful military on earth, and the IRGC no longer has a headquarters," the US Army added.
Centcom has also posted a video showing the strike on the IRGC headquarters, with a missile fired from a frigate destroying buildings in a single major strike.
In a fact sheet, the US military said it has carried out strikes on more than 1,000 Iranian targets since launching its Operation Epic Fury campaign on Saturday, claiming the offensive has killed Iran’s top leadership -- including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei -- and destroyed the country’s military and administrative infrastructure.

On March 18, Israel struck a gas field in Iran. Tehran responded in a matter of hours, striking refineries in several Gulf countries. What explains this sharp, quick counter-attack capability of a country whose military infrastructure has supposedly been severely degraded? The answer lies in a cheap drone and a dispersed military.
