A court-mandated videography survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid complex was carried out peacefully for the second consecutive day on Sunday, with 65 per cent of the exercise completed.
A court-mandated videography survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid complex is likely to be completed today, said Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi, the lawyer representing the Hindu side. A total of 65 per cent of the exercise was completed till yesterday.
Security has been beefed-up as the court-appointed committee has reached the spot to conduct the survey. Today, the team will move towards the well built in front of Nandi. According to sources, internal videography would be done by putting a water-resistant camera in the well.
The mosque is located close to the iconic Kashi Vishwanath temple and the local court is hearing a plea by a group of women seeking permission for daily prayers before the idols on its outer walls.
- A plea was filed by five Delhi-based women seeking permission to perform the daily worship of Hindu deities whose idols are located on the outer wall of Gyanvapi Mosque.
- The court appointed a committee to survey and videography of basements in the Gyanvapi-Gauri Shringar complex and asked it to submit the report by May 10.
- The survey was stalled amid objections by the mosque committee, which claimed that the advocate commissioner appointed by the court did not have the mandate to film inside the premises.
