
GMR to transform Nagpur airport into a modern aviation hub

GMR is all set to develop the Nagpur airport into a modern aviation hub in phases. The goal is for the airport to have a capacity of around 30 million passengers annually.
Following a ruling by the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court, GMR announced on Friday that it is pleased to take up the responsibility of developing and transforming Nagpur airport in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra into a modern aviation hub. The existing facilities at Nagpur airport have been operating close to their maximum capacity, handling a total of about three million passengers and 9,500 metric tonnes of cargo during the financial year 2019-20.GMR plans to develop the Nagpur airport in phases to have a capacity of around 30 million passengers annually.In the first phase, over a four-year period, GMR will construct a new greenfield integrated terminal with the initial capacity of handling four million passengers per annum, associated aeronautical infrastructure including taxiways, a new car park and approach road and a new cargo terminal.More Related News
