Glen Powell makes a 'Killing' 🪦

A few months ago, Glen Powell was killing it in "The Running Man." Now he's running around killing people.
The busiest guy in Hollywood stars in the darkly comedic thriller "How to Make a Killing," which has some "American Psycho" and "Wolf of Wall Street" vibes and stars our pal Glen as a man whose get-rich scheme involves murdering some relatives. That's in theaters now as is "Pillion," an Alexander Skarsgård erotic dramedy about a couple of guys in a BDSM relationship. However, if you're looking to stream some serious drama, binge the latest season of Netflix's "Love Is Blind" with its engaged folks either making it to altar or crashing out in trainwreck style.
Now on to the good stuff:
Glen Powell's inherent likability is extremely necessary for the dark comedy "How to Make a Killing." He plays a man whose mom was disowned from an uber-wealthy family, and as an adult, he worms his way into their inner circle and schemes to kill seven of them so he can inherit billions. It clumsily flits between wry humor and serious drama for much of the runtime before finally finding its satirical bite, but Powell can play a good schmuck and Margaret Qualley is a hoot as the film's resident femme fatale. (Peep my ★★½ review.)
My LA colleague Allison Moses hit the red carpet for the movie's premiere and did a bunch of cool videos. She talked with Powell about how he had real family on the set when killing fake relatives and a possible reunion with "Set It Up" costar Zoey Deutch, while Topher Grace spilled on working with Powell as well as bonding with Taylor Swift after "Valentine's Day." Plus, Jessica Henwick calls Powell "a machine" when it comes to work ethic.
