GBA Chief directs corporations to pursue criminal cases against illegal advertisements following citizen complaints in Bengaluru.
M. Maheshwar Rao, Chief Commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), directed all five corporations to appoint officers from the legal cell to initiate criminal cases against those putting up illegal advertisements, following several complaints at the West Corporation public meeting in Malleswaram on Thursday.
Residents of the West City Corporation highlighted issues of animal cruelty and footpath encroachments, e-Khata, declining footpath connectivity, illegal advertisements, and paused ward committee meetings.
Over 100 citizens submitted their complaints to the GBA Chief Commissioner and requested resolution.
At least four people raised issues regarding ward committee meetings not being held since September, when the BBMP was dissolved and the GBA was formed. The same issue was highlighted in the public meeting held at the East City Corporation.
About 200 residents of Hemmigepura have raised issues related to e-Khata. Mr. Rao said the problem was related to technical aspects and would be resolved soon.
Mr. Rao said that several complaints related to animal cruelty and dog-feeding were raised by citizens. In the last few months, even the police have taken up several complaints related to missing stray dogs. Mr. Rao directed officials to attend to the issue immediately.
