Lokayukta officials conduct searches in properties belonging to AEE in Hassan, unearth disproportionate assets

Lokayukta searches reveal ₹6.82 crore in disproportionate assets linked to Hassan's Assistant Executive Engineer M.C. Sathyanarayana.
Karnataka Lokayukta Police, who conducted search operations at places belonging to M.C. Sathyanarayana, Assistant Executive Engineer of Hassan City Corporation, on Thursday, unearthed valuables worth over ₹6.82 crore, which is 200.74% of his income. However, the search is not yet complete.
The search was conducted in his house at Rakshanapuram in Hassan City and six other places, including educational institutes, where his family had investments. The Lokayukta registered a case on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to known sources of income.
The officials found ₹15.75 lakh in cash, 1 kilogram and 36 grams of gold jewellery (worth ₹90.75 lakh), 11 kg and 208 grams of silver items (worth ₹18.22 lakh), two cars worth over ₹22 lakh and other valuables worth over ₹25 lakh.
The official possessed six sites valued at ₹52.6 lakh and three houses worth over ₹5.3 crore, besides three acres and 33 guntas of agricultural land, worth over ₹15.75 lakh.
The search operation was delayed by three hours in the morning, as the officer refused to open the doors for the Lokayukta officials. The officials said that the search would continue on Friday as well.
