Gang of burglars busted in Delhi; lady kingpin, 4 juveniles among 6 held

With the arrest of six people, including the lady kingpin and four juveniles, Delhi Police busted a gang of burglars who used to target locked houses and steal valuables such as cash, jewellery and gadgets.
Delhi Police busted a gang of burglars and arrested six people, including the lady kingpin and four juveniles who used to target locked houses and steal valuables such as cash, jewellery and gadgets. Police also recovered stolen articles worth Rs 8 lakh from the accused's possession.
The accused have been identified as Ankit alias Lambu (19), 4 juveniles and the woman head of the gang, Saloni aka Sita (20).
The matter came to light when a complainant, Gyan Singh (42), resident of Uttranchal Enclave Burari, approached police and reported that on June 24, after locking his house, he along with his family members had gone to attend a family function at his native place in Uttar Pradesh. However, when he came back on June 28, he noticed that the lock at the main gate of his house and entrance lock of the backside room were broken. On checking, he found that jewellery and cash worth Rs 12 Lakh were stolen from the almirah.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.
During the probe, CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity of the place of incident and possible routes followed by the culprits were checked and analysed, following which a person moving at odd hours was noticed. Intense chase through CCTV footage and local intelligence helped police to identify the suspect.
Subsequently, police nabbed all the accused from Gali No 3, near Shamshan Ghat Mukundpur in Delhi on Friday. Police also recovered gold jewellery (gold chain, gold earrings, rings) and 4 mobile phones from their possession.
According to the police, the kingpin of the gang was a 20-year-old girl who usually kept the juveniles under her control. She provided resources, accommodation as well as financial help to the juveniles and in return, got the major share of booty.
