Gang arrested for illegally procuring and selling steroids used for bodybuilding to Hyderabad youth

Four men arrested for illegally selling Mephentermine Sulphate injection vials in Hyderabad, seizing 217 vials worth ₹3.15 lakh.

A gang of four men allegedly involved in illegally procuring and selling Mephentermine Sulphate (steroid) injection vials , used for bodybuilding, were arrested by the officials of South West Zone of Hyderabad police commissioner’s Task Force and Asifnagar police. The police said 217 vials worth ₹3.15 lakh were seized from them.

The arrested individuals include the key supplier and gym trainer Rashid Khan alias Rash; a therapist Mohd Aftab Hussain; a student Mohd Habeeb Uddin alias Junaid and a technician Mohd Rahmath. They illegally procured the injections from Delhi through courier without any valid license or doctor’s prescription and sold them to customers in the city.

Investigation revealed that Rashid Khan was previously arrested by the Chandrayangutta police in 2022 for selling these injections. He was recently booked by the Abids police for similar offence. A native of Maharashtra, he moved to Hyderabad and started working as a gym trainer. Recently, he set up RK Gym in Mehdipatnam. However, it had to be shut down in a few months due to financial troubles.

According to Ande Srinivasa Rao, additional DCP commissioner’s Task Force, Rashid was aware of the high demand for Mephentermine Sulphate injection IP 30mg in the market and decided to sell them at a higher price to make profits. “He ordered the injection vials online through a website called ‘Indian Mart’ and received it via courier. He then used his friend Mohd Aftab Hussain to sell the vials, by offering him a good commission. Mohd Aftab Hussain, along with his associates Mohd Habeeb Uddin and Mohd Rahmath sold the injection vials at gyms, colleges and local areas at exorbitant rates,” the official explained.

Mephentermine Sulphate injections are popular among youth seeking to rapidly increase muscle growth and treat low blood pressure. However, the desire for instant results has led many young individuals to become addicted to these steroids, which can cause numerous health problems and diseases, the police said. The Asifnagar police booked a case and initiated detailed investigation.
