Gandhi Shilp Bazaar, a ten-day handicrafts exhibition and sale, will begin on March 6 at JSS Mysore Urban Haat in Mysuru. It will go on till March 15.
Sponsored by the Office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the state-level Gandhi Shilp Bazaar will feature 70 stalls, bringing together skilled artisans and handloom weavers from various states across India.
“JSS Mysore Urban Haat has successfully organised 151 exhibitions so far, and this marks its 152nd edition, continuing its tradition of promoting Indian handicrafts and handlooms”, said a statement here.
Artisans from across the country will showcase and sell a wide range of authentic handicrafts and handloom products, including wood carvings and stone sculptures, bronze idols and traditional wooden inlay art, terracotta pottery and paper crafts, carpets and cotton jamakhanas, among other products.
Also on display will be imitation jewellery and lacquered wooden artefacts, Batik and Kalamkari paintings, artistic leather products and handcrafted footwear, Channapatna toys, and embroidery works.
The items from different states include Maheshwari and Chanderi sarees from Madhya Pradesh, Madhubani paintings from Bihar, Pattachitra art from Odisha, bamboo and cane products from Assam, dry flower crafts and chikankari embroidery from Uttar Pradesh, phulkari textiles from Punjab and katha sarees from West Bengal, said the statement.
