The Union Territory reported one COVID-19 death and 144 new cases even as the test positivity rate dropped below 2% on Monday. The sole fatality was recorded in Puducherry, taking the cumulative toll to 1,745. The cumulative death count by region is Puducherry (1,393), Karaikal (217), Yanam (102) and Mahe (33). Puducherry accounted for 115 new cases, which were detected from 7,251 tests, followed by Karaikal (14), Mahe (14) and Yanam (one). The test positivity rate was 1.99%, the case fatality rate 1.49% and the recovery rate 96.38%.More Related News
The election authorities are gearing up for the counting of votes cast in the simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh, scheduled to be held on June 4. The Collectors and Election Officers of Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli and Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) districts said on May 23 (Thursday) that their teams were ready for the counting of votes.
