On October 26, Kavitha, a 19-year-old lion died due to senility and old age-related issues at the Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Chennai. Next day, five ostriches died in the zoo.
Management of the Arignar Anna Zoological Park, which houses 2,400 animals belonging to 180 species, had stated that ostriches were breeding naturally in the enclosure and prophylactic treatments had been given to the rest of the birds.
