Fisker to enter India with Ocean and PEAR

American electric automaker Fisker Inc. has set up its India headquarters in Hyderbad and is looking to get its first models, the Ocean and the PEAR to the country soon.
Fisker Inc, the American electric car manufacturer has established its India headquarters in Hyderabad. The brand will subsequently bring its first products to India, beginning with the Ocean and the PEAR.
The company is a successor to Fisker Automotive, maker of the Fisker Karma, one of the world’s first plug-in hybrid cars. Speaking on the announcement, Henrik Fisker, Chairman and CEO, Fisker Inc. said, “Our expansion into India represents both a strategic market opportunity and a significant boost to our global engineering capabilities. We have already started local hiring in India and expect our new team in Hyderabad to be fully operational and engaged on multiple product programs within weeks. Our talent pool in India will help us pave the way for the launch of Fisker Ocean and Fisker PEAR in India.”
The company has set up Fisker Vigyan India Pvt Ltd based in Hyderabad. The company will focus on software development, embedded electronics, virtual vehicle development support functions, data analytics, and machine learning. The office in Hyderabad will work with the company’s facilities in California, USA.Fisker is likely to bring the Ocean, its first product, to India soon. Production of the vehicle is set to commence on November 17, 2022, at the brand’s facility in Magna Steyr, Graz, Austria. The electric vehicle is available in three variants; the Sport, Ultra, and Extreme. Fisker Ocean Sport gets a WLTP range of 440km, while the Extreme boasts a WLTP range of 630km. The brand collaborated with the battery supplier CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited) to develop two different chemistries for the batteries, maximizing performance and minimizing the cost.
The Fisker PEAR (Personal Electric Automotive Revolution) is another vehicle that the brand has announced. While the vehicle has only been teased in the form of renders, the PEAR is likely to follow a similar design philosophy as the Ocean but in a more compact package. Fisker says that the deliveries of this model will commence in the primary markets in 2024.
