
Fire breaks out at chemical solvent unit in Hyderabad’s Jeedimetla, firefighting underway

A fire at a chemical unit in Hyderabad's Jeedimetla prompts extensive firefighting efforts; no casualties reported.
A major fire broke out at a chemical solvent industry unit in Ram Reddy Nagar in Jeedimetla, Hyderabad, on Thursday (April 9, 2026) morning, triggering an extensive firefighting operation. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
According to Fire control officials, a distress call was received at 7:28 a.m., following which four fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Fire engines from Sanathnagar, Secunderabad, Kukatpally and Cantonment were deployed to contain the blaze. Firefighting personnel are on the ground and continuing efforts to douse the flames.
In a separate incident, another fire was reported in Bahadurpally area of Jeedimetla, where a blaze broke out in a penthouse. One fire tender from the Jeedimetla fire station was rushed to the location. No injuries or casualties were reported in this case as well.
Residents in the surrounding area of Subhash Nagar reported the whole area getting covered in dark smoke.
The causes of both fires are yet to be ascertained, officials said.
