Home to more than 64 per cent of the country’s 1.3 billion population, rural India doesn’t have even 30 per cent of the nation’s health infrastructure at its disposal. With nearly half of the fresh Covid cases now being reported in rural areas, according to an SBI report this month, the challenge to fight the pandemic’s penetration into the hinterlands is momentous.
