
Farmer held for possessing country-made guns, explosives near Ambur

Farmer arrested near Ambur for possessing homemade guns and explosives, reportedly made after watching online videos.
A 32-year-old farmer was arrested on charges of illegally possessing four country-made guns and 14 crude bombs at his farmland near Ambur town in Tirupattur on Sunday.
Police said based on a tip-off, a special team conducted searches at the house and farmland of the suspect B. Satyanathan. They found country-made guns, explosives, nets, torchlights and batteries. He reportedly told police that he made the guns after watching some videos. He used pellets to hunt wild animals in surrounding forests near theTamil Nadu - Andhra Pradesh border. He also used it to prevent wild boars from damaging crops, police said.
Police seized the country-made guns and other materials. A case was registered by Ambur Town police. He was arrested and lodged at Central Prison in Vellore.
