Three killed in road accident near Mandapam
In a tragic incident, three persons, including two women, died in a road accident near Mandapam in Ramanathapuram district on Sunday.
Police said that Tamilmani (34) of Tirupur and Felicia (30) of Sattur were married and lived in Chennai. They have two children. It is said that Tamilmani had planned to visit Rameswaram with his relatives. They all had reached the temple on Saturday.
On Sunday, when they left Rameswaram for Sattur in a car and a van, a two-wheeler in which three people were riding, collided head on with the car. In the impact, the car, which was driven by Tamilmani, hit another van coming on the opposite direction at Kunjar Valasai near Mandapam.
While Tamilmani’s wife Felicia and his mother Sumathi died on the spot, an unidentified man on the two-wheeler also died. Tamilmani and his two children suffered injuries. The Mandapam police have registered a case.
The car, two-wheeler and the van suffered extensive damage. Further investigation is on.

The paired bins are found in front of bus stops, park entrances, petty shops, and probably elsewhere too. They are not shrinking violets hiding themselves in a corner of the road, but put themselves on the frontlines choosing a patch on the carriageway. They are grouted into the carriageway. In some bus stands, they do not come across as intrusive. In others, they do. In the latter, one wonders if they would not be in the way of commuters embarking on and disembarking from a bus ride.
