Fake GST invoice fraud: 357 held so far, including 12 CAs, 1 advocate

The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) and Central GST Commissionerates have arrested 357 persons including 12 chartered accountants, one company secretary and an advocate in the ongoing nation-wide drive against the fake GST invoice frauds since mid-November, 2020.

The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) and Central GST Commissionerates have arrested 357 persons including 12 chartered accountants, one company secretary and an advocate in the ongoing nation-wide drive against the fake GST invoice frauds since mid-November, 2020. The authorities, also, have recovered around Rs. 1,125 crore from these fraudsters. Agency sources had told the officials about chartered accountants running fake GST invoice scam in Delhi. After receiving the information, Central GST Delhi Zone arrested a CA Devender Kumar Goyal along with the mastermind Naresh Dhondhiyal of Vertilink Media Solutions Pvt Ltd while another CA Vishal Ahuja was arrested by CGST Mumbai Zone for running a fake invoice racket.
