Fact Check: 2019 news clip from Haryana goes viral as proof of BJP capturing booths during UP assembly polls

A video of a news clip is going viral with a claim that the BJP's polling agents influenced voters in polling booths in the recently concluded UP Assembly elections. India Today's Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) has found the claim to be misleading.

Allegations of booth-capturing and EVM-rigging continue to spread on social media following the sweeping electoral victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh.

A video of a news clip went viral along with the claim that voters were influenced by the BJP’s polling agents in booths in UP.

The clip featured a reporter talking to a group of women who complained that a polling agent named Giriraj forced them to press the button with the BJP’s Lotus symbol.
