Explosive device found on outskirts of Jammu

The Jammu police said in a statement that a team rushed to the spot after receiving information of a suspicious object lying near a highway on the outskirts of Jammu.

An explosive device was found in the Sidhra area on the outskirts of Jammu, police said in a statement on Thursday.

Jammu police received input regarding a suspicious object found alongside a highway in Sidhra. A team from the nearby station rushed to the spot and later senior officers also reached the site.

On examination, it was found that the object was an explosive device, after which the site was sealed and the device was destroyed through a controlled blast carried out by the bomb squad of Jammu police.

An investigation into the matter is on, said police.
