In the light of two cases of HMP virus being detected in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that efforts would be made to prevent the spread of the virus.
Speaking to presspersons at Vidhan Soudha in Bengaluru on January 6, he said that the virus, which emerged in China, has been detected in two cases in Karnataka. The Health Department has been told to take precautionary measures to prevent its spread. “The Health Department and Medical Education Department will jointly take action. The Health Minister is chairing a meeting on the issue,” he added.

To a question on surrender of Naxals in Karnataka, Mr. Siddaramaiah said that there are chances that Naxals could change their mind and surrender before the government, and that he had also appealed to them to surrender. “Efforts are on to bring the Naxals to the mainstream of the society.”
