Enforcement Directorate raids on Congress legislators in Karnataka are not politically motivated, reveals BJP MP Jagadish Shettar.
The fresh raids being carried out by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on some Congress legislators in Karnataka are not politically motivated. The ED is an independent institution and it has enough material to conduct search. Its officers have studied all necessary documents before carrying out the raids, BJP MP Jagadish Shettar said in Belagavi on Wednesday.
The response from some Congress leaders shows that the Congress government is working to cover up scams by its Ministers, he told reporters.
“B. Nagendra, who was a Minister and chairman of the Valmiki Development Corporation, was arrested in a scam. Later, he was released on bail and an investigation is under way,” he said.
“Nagendra has not been acquitted of the charge. But Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been going around saying Nagendra will be inducted into the Cabinet again. This shows that there is an attempt by the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government to cover up scams,” Mr. Shettar, who is a former Chief Minister, said.
“There is prima facie evidence to show that there have been major financial irregularities in the corporation. But the Congress government is trying to cover it up. That is why ED has stepped in,” Mr. Shettar said.
