Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai, stated that people should not hold them responsible if the state elections were held alongside the 2024 general elections. He said this in Coimbatore while also warning police for behaving rudely with BJP cadres during a protest.

Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief, Annamalai, on Tuesday stated that the party should not be held responsible if the state elections were held along with the 2024 General Elections. He said this while indirectly warning the state police who had allegedly behaved rudely during the BJP protest in Coimbatore.

He also hit out at the police for arresting the Coimbatore district BJP head and for manhandling cadres during the party’s protest. He said that the party should not be held responsible for any departmental action initiated against police officials who allegedly misbehaved with BJP cadres.

“We are not responsible for any departmental action against any policeman who touched us. Don’t hold us responsible if you don’t get your pension after retirement. We are not responsible if you lament every day for wearing the police uniform,” warned Annamalai.

He also stated that 99 per cent of policemen are honest and good-natured and refused to work against their conscience to side with the ruling government. “Even if they are transferred to rural areas, they will not be deterred. There are also such police officers. Please bare for a few more days.”

“I’ve never said this before but don’t hold us responsible if Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are held along with 2024 Parliament elections,” he said. Hitting out indirectly at the ruling DMK, he added, “If you don’t change yourselves, you will be changed.”

“The day when BJP cadres lay siege of the CM’s house is not far away”, stated Annamalai.
