The deputy chief minister of Karnataka has said that students should not be asked to forcefully vacate the hostels amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The government of Karnataka has issued an order to all the schools and universities stating that they cannot ask students to forcefully vacate the hostels during the current Covid-19 surge across the state, said Deputy Chief Minister Dr. C N Ashwath Narayan. He issued a statement on Twitter, saying that students will not be asked to vacate the hostels and return home forcefully by the educational institutes till the examinations for the current academic session are concluded. Many universities and colleges have been asking students to return home as many cases have been reported in educational institutes in recent weeks. Students have been protesting this move as travelling during the pandemic is unsafe and inconvenient.
