In a 3-hour surgery, doctors at a Hyderabad hospital removed 156 kidney stones from a 50-year-old patient. The doctors said that this was the highest number of stones removed from a patient in India.
The patient, a school teacher, reported sudden pain in his abdomen. Screening showed a large number of stones in the kidney. News agency PTI reported that the doctors found the kidney located near the abdomen, instead of its normal position in the urinary tract.
