Raichur Zilla Utsav 2026 showcased the district's rich history, culture, and unity, emphasizing development and tourism.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said that the Raichur Zilla Utsav 2026 was conducted to lay emphasis on the history of the district. It was successfully organised and sent a message of unity during the three days of cultural events and other programmes, he added.
He was addressing a valedictory function of the utsav, jointly organised by the district administration, zilla panchayat, Kannada and Culture department, and various other government departments at the University of Agriculture and Science in Raichur on February 7.
At the utsav, the history of different empires that ruled the district was highlighted. Its culture, art, and harmony were exhibited during each programme. The people’s response to the Utsav was immense, as they thoroughly enjoyed the programmes, he said, and added that the officers’ efforts behind conducting a successful event were exceptional.
“The district is recognised by its contribution to power production and paddy and cotton farming. The State government is committed to taking development works here. We are working on taking irrigation to the tail-end lands,” Mr. Shivakumar assured.
He recalled the Kalyan Karnataka Region getting special status under Article 371(J) and said, “Our leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s name will always remain in the hearts of lakhs of people in this region for his unwavering efforts in getting justice to the backward area through the special status. Because of the reservation, thousands of young, educated people are pursuing higher education and getting jobs.”
Minister for Kannada and Culture Shivaraj Tangadagi stressed encouraging tourism in the district to enable outsiders to understand the glorious history.
