Disney+ Hotstar announces new plans starting at Rs 499 to take on Netflix, to discontinue VIP plan

As of now, Disney+ Hotstar gives two types of subscriptions -- namely VIP and Premium subscriptions for Rs 399 and Rs 1499 per year with varying benefits. With the introduction of new plans, the streaming service will offer the same content to all users.

Disney+ Hotstar is set to remove limited access on shows with the introduction of new plans. Users will now be able to watch all content on the streaming service. Disney+ Hotstar is set to offer new plans to their users, the company announced at a virtual event on Tuesday. These plans are set to roll out in September and are said to offer the same content to all users, like in the case of Netflix. As of now, Disney+ Hotstar gives two types of subscriptions -- namely VIP and Premium subscriptions for Rs 399 and Rs 1499 per year. VIP customers have limited access to benefits with no access to English shows and Disney originals and also have ads.
