Amid continued disruption in the Rajya Sabha over the , Chairman M. Venkaiah Mr. Naidu on December 2 said “disapproval of undemocratic conduct in the House cannot be decried as undemocratic”, and urged the ruling and Opposition benches to resolve the impasse.
were suspended from the Rajya Sabha on November 29 for the winter session of Parliament for their “unruly” conduct in the previous session. The Opposition has described the suspension as “undemocratic and in violation of all the Rules of Procedure” of the Upper House.

Although students from Tamil Nadu remain the leading recipients of educational loans across India, there has been a significant decline in the number of active loans they hold. The number of active education loan accounts decreased from 27.4 lakh accounts to about 20.1 lakh in the period. The fall can be mostly attributed to the fall in Tamil Nadu’s numbers.
