The viral word game Wordle has taken the Internet by storm and there are very few who haven’t played the game yet. As the chatter regarding the game refuses to die down, a team of app developers from Bangladesh has created a Bengali version of the game! Impressive, right?
Shobdle, (Word in Bengali is called ‘Shobdo’) the game, has grabbed a lot of attention among netizens. The rules are simple and almost the same as those of the original game. Shobdle gives you 7 chances to guess a Bengali word, which is the word of the day.
The word has to be a word that fits in 4 blocks. There are 5 different colours to let you know how close your guess is. After each try, the blocks change colour to either green, yellow, blue, pink or black, depending on the correct or incorrect consonant cluster, diacritics combo, correct block.
The game is totally free to play and has been developed by a software company from Bangladesh called Devs Core. It was created by Adib Ahmad Chowdhury, Alif Ahsan Nibir and the core team.
You can play Shobdle here.
However, there’s an interesting reason behind this new app. Shobdle was specially created as a tribute to the International Mother Language Day this year, which is celebrated in Bangladesh and other Bengali speaking regions in India.
The day celebrated every year on February 21 marks the anniversary of the day when the people of Bangladesh (then East Pakistan) fought for the recognition of Bengali as a language.

The IRGC claimed it had "successfully targeted" the US aircraft, though it did not immediately provide details on the location, extent of damage or the fate of the pilot. There has been no immediate confirmation from the United States military, which has previously disputed similar claims by Iran during the conflict.

Continuing on their string of victories in special elections since 2024, Democrats flipped the long-held Republican 87th House District in the Florida State House on Tuesday. The win, which comes ahead of the critical midterms in November, also hands Democrats a seat that is home to President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.
