DGP reviews security arrangements at Medaram jatara, highlights AI-led policing
Director General of Police (DGP) B. Shivadhar Reddy visited Medaram on Friday to review the security arrangements.
He first visited the altars of the forest goddesses and offered jaggery, and later inspected the arrangements.
Advanced technology has been introduced for the first time at the fair, bringing significant changes in security management, the DGP said.
AI-based drone policing system has been put in place where drones, functioning as digital beat officers, are providing real-time inputs from forest areas and the Jampanna stream.
He said QR code wristbands introduced to prevent children from getting separated in crowded areas were yielding positive results. Facial recognition software was being used to identify habitual offenders, while AI alerts were helping detect suspicious objects.
The DGP also said that more than 13,000 police personnel would be deployed continuously for seven days to maintain law and order, and 37 parking slots in over 2,000 acres had been developed with the ANPR surveillance system.
