Delhi: Zepto delivery boy dies in hit-and-run, company announces Rs 10 lakh compensation

A 19-year-old teenage boy who worked as a delivery guy working with Zepto died in a hit-and-run case in Delhi. Zepto said it has borne the treatment and funeral expenses and also announced financial assistance for the victim's family.
Instant grocery delivery startup Zepto has announced Rs 10 lakh compensation to the family of its delivery partner who was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Delhi's Dwarka.
A 19-year-old delivery boy with Zepto died after he was hit by an overspeeding car at Dwarka in Delhi on May 16.
The victim, identified as Karan Raju, was a Zepto delivery partner working with Zypp who died after he was hit by a vehicle from behind in South Delhi while returning after completing a delivery, the company said in a statement. He died on Thursday while undergoing treatment at the Safdarjung Hospital.
After the incident, Zepto released an official statement and promised compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the victim's family, adding that the company was 'deeply aggrieved by the death of Karan Raju.' Raju is survived by four other members of his family.

The company said,"We are deeply aggrieved by the death of Karan Raju (Zepto Delivery Partner working with Zypp). Karan was wearing his helmet and driving on the correct side of the road when he was hit by a vehicle from behind in what seems to be a hit-and-run incident in South Delhi while returning to our centre after completing a delivery. He passed away yesterday at the Safdarjung Hospital."
