Delhi Police turns Punch the viral baby monkey's journey into a call for compassion
India Today
A touching post by Delhi Police draws attention to Punch, a baby macaque at Ichikawa City Zoo, whose story of overcoming rejection has resonated globally.
A police uniform is not usually associated with plush toys. Yet this week, Delhi Police shared an image that blended the two, a constable gently holding the hand of a monkey clutching his stuffed companion. The message beneath it was simple: no one should feel alone.
Behind that image lies the story of Punch.
“Punch’s story reminds us, everyone needs someone & we’re always here for you. Dial 112,” the caption read.
The image showed the uniformed officer walking beside the monkey as though offering quiet reassurance. Social media users were quick to respond, many calling it one of the most heartwarming outreach messages they had seen from the police.
