Delhi Police saves law student from suicide bid in Yamuna river

The Delhi Police saved the life of a law student who jumped into the Yamuna river to end his life.
The Delhi Police saved a law student who attempted to end his life by jumping into the Yamuna. The student has been identified as Monish Dixit, 20, a resident of Rajasthan's Alwar and a second-year student of law at National Law University, Bengaluru.
On Saturday, the police received information that a person might attempt suicide and his location was traced to the Signature Bridge in Timarpur area of the national capital.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi said Dixit had been staying at a hotel in Paharganj since February 27 without informing his friends and family.
He had tweeted about his decision to commit suicide. His family members saw the tweet and informed the police, the DCP said.
Police reached the spot and found that a person had jumped into the river. Sub Inspector Gurish Baalyan, Constable Praveen and Constable Sunil Samota pulled out the boy from the river. Dixit was then admitted to Trauma Centre Civil Lines and now he is out of danger.
Dixit told police that he was depressed as he had failed in one of his trimester exams and he could not muster the courage to face his father and teachers.
