The Delhi government is conducting an audit of jobs created with taxpayers' money to make a note of how many received employment from special schemes and programmes.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said while presenting Delhi's budget for the financial year 2022-23 on Saturday that the government will undertake a study to determine how many people were employed as a result of spending on various programmes and schemes. He claims that this will be the country's first employment audit or job audit, as well as a scan of the overall outcome of activities done with public funds.
"Every rupee of the budget passed by this House, whether that money is being spent in the field of education and health or is being used to build roads, buildings, bridges, schools, hospitals, colleges, electricity, water system, call centres, art culture etc... a complete account of how many people got employment as a result of every rupee spent will be kept," said Sisodia, who is also Delhi's finance minister, as per PTI.
"For this, the government is coming up with a plan of employment audit of each department. This in itself will be the first such step in the country," the deputy chief minister said.
Sisodia announced a Rs 75,800-crore 'Rozgar Budget' for the financial year 2022-23, which focuses on establishing an electronic city and strengthening the night economy, retail, and wholesale markets in the national capital with the goal of creating 20 lakh new jobs in the following five years.
Food and drinks, logistics and supply chain, travel and tourism, entertainment, construction, real estate, and green energy are among the government's key industries for job development.
The Kejriwal government's 'Rozgar Budget' calls for shopping festivals to promote the city's retail and wholesale markets, with the goal of attracting tourists and creating jobs to strengthen the economy. In the budget for 2022-23, Rs 250 crore has been set aside for this purpose.
Sisodia stated that an artificial intelligence-based website and smartphone application, dubbed 'Rozgar Bazaar 2.0' will be developed with the goal of providing at least one lakh jobs to Delhi's youth, particularly women, every year.
