The Delhi Cabinet has approved the construction of India's first 'e-waste eco park' for effective management of e-waste. It has also announced Delhi Film Policy 2022 to boost tourism and promote the city as a brand.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday announced that Delhi will get India's first e-waste eco-park. He also announced the framing of Delhi Film Policy 2022 to make the city a brand for shooting locations and promoting tourism.
The Delhi government has announced the setting up of the 'country's first' electronic-waste eco-friendly park in the national capital to handle the increasing e-waste. Sisodia informed that the park will be built on 20 acres of land.
"Two important decisions have been taken in the cabinet meeting. The first decision pertains to e-waste park. As the use of electronic gazettes and technology is increasing, e-waste is also increasing," the minister said.
At present, Delhi produces 2 lakh tonnes of e-waste every year. The Delhi government will set up the country’s first e-waste eco-park, where recycling and re-manufacturing work will be done in a safe and scientific manner.
As per the guidelines of the Government of India, we are happy to start this project first in Delhi. A consultant appointment has been approved for this.
