Deepika Padukone's The Intern to go on floors this year, reveals Gehraiyaan actress

Deepika Padukone has revealed that The Intern will go on floors this year or early 2023. The actress will be seen in the movie with Amitabh Bachchan.
Deepika Padukone is currently earning appreciation for her performance in Gehraiyaan. Though the Shakun Batra directorial has received a mixed response from the masses, Deepika is being lauded for her acting skills. After Gehraiyaan, Deepika has an interesting line up of films ahead. One of those films is the Hindi remake of The Intern. The actress will be seen in the movie with Amitabh Bachchan. Wondering when The Intern will go on floors? Deepika has an answer.
Fans are eagerly waiting for The Intern and Deepika has finally shared an update on the film. In an interview with MidDay, the actress revealed that the third wave of Covid-19 caused a delay in the film's making. However, there is a positive update, shared by Deepika.
"The Intern will happen this year, or early 2023. The third wave wasn’t anticipated, so it threw a few things off course," Deepika told the entertainment tabloid.
It is to be noted that The Intern will mark Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan's third collaboration after Piku and Aarakshan. However, Big B wasn't the first choice for The Intern. Rishi Kapoor was roped in to play the lead in The Intern, but due to his demise in 2020, the makers approached Amitabh Bachchan. And that's how Big B came on-board to play the lead in the film.
On the work front, Deepika has as many as four films lined up besides The Intern. The actress will be reuniting with her Om Shanti Om and Chennai Express co-star Shah Rukh Khan for Pathan. She will be sharing screen space with Hrithik Roshan in Fighter. She also has Project K and an untitled film with Madhu Mantena lined up.
