China is not a monarchy or a declared dictatorship. But it is ruled with dictatorial zeal by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which celebrates the 100th anniversary of its founding on Thursday. Going by the strength of registered cadres, the CCP is the world’s second largest political party after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Over 6.5 per cent population of China has CCP membership. Total number of CCP members stands at over 9.5 crore. However, women make up less than 30 per cent of CCP members.
Legal immigration to the US in 2025 has seen one of its sharpest declines since the pandemic. About 2,50,000 fewer visas in total were issued compared to 2024, reported The Washington Post. The drop has been global, but India stands out as one of the worst affected, alongside China. Visa approvals for the two countries fell by a combined 84,000.
