DC assures no disruption in domestic LPG supply

Mandya DC reassures residents of uninterrupted domestic LPG supply amidst concerns, urging against panic and advance bookings.

Mandya Deputy Commissioner Kumar has assured the public that there is no need to panic over the supply of domestic cooking gas, stating that there will be no disruption in LPG supply in the district.

Speaking at a meeting held at his office in Mandya on Thursday with representatives of oil marketing companies — HPCL, BPCL and IOCL — he said that there is no shortage of domestic LPG cylinders in the district at present.

The meeting was convened amid concerns that the ongoing conflict in the West Asia could affect the supply of cooking gas.

Dr. Kumar said the district requires about 12,000 LPG cylinders daily for domestic use and over three lakh cylinders per month, and assured that adequate arrangements will be made to meet the demand.

He noted that some consumers have begun booking cylinders in advance, fearing a shortage. He urged the public not to panic or make unnecessary advance bookings, reiterating that there will be no disruption in supply.

The DC also warned that strict action will be taken under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, against anyone found illegally hoarding or engaging in black market activities involving LPG cylinders.
