Kerala High Court summons home secretary over delays in Rs 47 crore compensation for sexual assault survivors.
The Kerala High Court on Thursday directed the state home secretary to appear before it on Monday for the alleged delay in handing over compensation worth Rs 47 crore to survivors of sexual assault.
The compensation for women and child victims was due under the victim compensation scheme. The home secretary ought to appear before the HC if there is further delay in handing over the compensation amounts. Another Rs 10 cr ought to be paid to mediators.
The court warned of initiating contempt of court proceedings if there was any further delay in handing over the compensation amount that is due from 2022.
