Day after, Amaravati Pylon draws visitors with high hopes on a bright future for State

Amaravati capital city relaunched by PM Modi, visitors throng venue, workers clean up, farmers hopeful for completion.

A day after the relaunch of the Amaravati capital city works, by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, visitors from various places thronged the venue. They went round the place clicking selfies and group photos, especially of the Amaravati Pylon inaugurated by the Prime Minister, as they wanted to carry back the memories home. In a jubilant mood and exhibiting a sense of pride, many of them hoped that the capital city construction would be completed shortly.

On the other hand, workers were busy removing the tents, chairs, barricades, lighting, and other arrangements made at the venue and tidying up the area, reminding the visitors of the hectic activity the place had witnessed a day before.

‘’The government showed its commitment by relaunching the works,’‘ a visitor remarked, expressing his happiness over the development.

Ten years ago, Mr. Modi laid the foundation stone for the construction of Amaravati capital city taken up under the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA). However, the policy shift after the YSRCP came to power in the State in 2019, led to stalling of the works.

After the NDA took over the reins of the State last year, the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu reiterated his commitment to completing the capital city works in a time-bound manner, with the support of the Prime Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister and JSP president Pawan Kalyan.

The State Government organised a huge public meeting on Friday where the Prime Minister formally relaunched the commencement of works with an outlay of about ₹50,000 crore.

Among those who visited the venue on Saturday were many farmers from the Amaravati region, who had given their lands to the CRDA for capital construction. They expressed the hope that the works would be completed as promised by the State Government.
