CPI(M) protests BJP's attempt to name skill center after RSS founder, Muslim League joins in condemning the decision.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] took out a march to the municipal office here on Wednesday in protest against the attack on its councillor Saleena Beevi allegedly by BJP councillors during an uproar over giving RSS founder K.B. Hedgewar’s name to a skill development centre on Tuesday.
The police blocked the march in front of the municipal office. CPI(M) district secretariat member T.K. Noushad inaugurated the march. Area secretary K. Krishnankutty and district committee member C.P. Pramod spoke.
The CPI(M) leaders warned that the BJP’s attempts to name the skill centre after the RSS founder would be resisted by parading people.
The Indian Union Muslim League also staged a protest in front of the municipal office, condemning the BJP decision to name the skill centre after the RSS founder.
Muslim Youth League national vice-president P.P. Anvar Sadath inaugurated the protest. He said the politics of hatred being propounded by the BJP and the RSS would be parried by upholding democratic values. He said when freedom fighters were toiling for India’s freedom from the British, the Sangh Parivar was engaged in anti-national work. “We will resist the move to whitewash such leaders who worked against the country,” he said.
