Figures from main government hospitals in Ahmedabad, Surat and a few districts reveal deaths many times higher than being reported by the health authorities.
Discrepancy between the government figures of deaths and figures from hospitals and crematoria/burial grounds in the State appears growing in Gujarat as the State is grappling with the pandemic’s second wave. According to the State health bulletin, 157 fatalities were reported on Sunday while 152 deaths were reported on Saturday from across Gujarat. However, figures from main government hospitals in Ahmedabad, Surat and a few districts reveal deaths many times higher than being reported by the health authorities.
