
Covid-19 lockdown: Royal Enfield to shut plants for four days

Following Hero, Honda and Yamaha, Royal Enfield have now announced a temporary shut down at its manufacturing facilities in Chennai.
As the second wave of the COVID19 pandemic continue to ravage the Indian continent more and more manufacturers are shutting down their production facilities in an attempt to flatten the curve. Up until now, Honda, Hero MotoCorp and Yamaha have announced temporary shut-downs at their facilities for varying periods of time in India between now and April 31st. Now Royal Enfield have also announced their decision to halt manufacturing in their facilities in Chennai. The company’s manufacturing operations across Thiruvottiyur, Oragadam and Vallam Vadagal facilities will remain shut between Thursday, May 13, 2021 and Sunday, May 16, 2021. During this time, the company will undertake maintenance activity at its manufacturing plants. Given local lock downs across states and Union Territories impacting retail operations, the company does not foresee any significant impact on ability to cater to demand.
