Coordination meet outlines key measures for safe Bakrid

With Bakrid round the corner, the Hyderabad city police organised a coordination meeting on Tuesday at the Salar Jung Museum Auditorium, with emphasis on cleanliness, lawful animal transport, uninterrupted civic services, and communal harmony.

The meeting focused on four key fronts: preventing illegal animal transport, maintaining hygiene during animal sacrifice, ensuring continuous civic amenities like power and water, and fostering cooperation among communities and officials.

To curb the unauthorised movement of sacrificial animals and ensure security, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand announced that police checkpoints would be set up across the city. Veterinary staff will be posted round-the-clock at all checkpoints, and special dog-catching teams will operate across the city.

Religious leaders and community representatives urged citizens to dispose of animal waste only at designated spots and maintain public hygiene. They echoed the call for preserving Hyderabad’s cultural spirit of Ganga-Jamuna Tehzeeb and ensuring a peaceful atmosphere.

The GHMC Zonal Commissioner detailed additional sanitation measures, including the deployment of extra staff and waste collection vehicles, particularly around mosques and community areas.

The meeting brought together officials from the GHMC, Animal Husbandry Department, RTA, Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL), HMWSS&B alongside public representatives including MLAs Majid Hussain, Kausar Mohiuddin, Zulfiqar Ali, Jaffer Hussain Meraj, and MLC Mirza Rahmat Ali Baig, religious scholars, Qureshi community members, maulanas, police and veterinary staff.
